How to Choose the Best Tent with Screened Porch
A porch is simply one piece of fabric propped up overhead to protect you from the shade. But a screen room is a full additional room, separated by a door, that’s screened in from the outside. This provides extra sun protection as well as full immunity from bugs.
Size
The declared capacity of tents are very misleading. The number of people a tent claims to hold is not how many will sleep comfortably in there. Imagine if everyone was in sleeping bags next to each other on the floor with no extra space.
So if you want to go camping with 4 people, you should get a 6 (or even 8!) person tent.
Stability vs. Weight
Every tent is made out of different materials, with different grade construction. For example, steel tent poles are the strongest but also the heaviest.
Of course we’d all like our tent to be nice and strong but if you’re not camping in windy conditions, do you need to lug a heavy tent around?
In each review, we’ve considered the stability and weight of each tent so you can decide for yourself how to balance these two factors.
Price
Of course, price is a factor for everyone. But the most expensive isn’t always the best and the cheapest isn’t worth the savings sometimes. In each review, we’ve consider the quality you get for the price.
Prices change frequently so we can’t list the current prices here. Instead, we’ve created levels based on a price range. If you want to check the current price, just click the link to the products to go to the sales page.
Here is a quick key to our price labels:
- $ = under $150
- $$ = ~ $150 – $300
- $$$ = ~ $300 – $500
- $$$$ = over $500
Family Tents with Screened Porches
(6-10 person tents)
Coleman 6-Person Cabin Tent with Screened Porch Review
Amazon Rating: 4.6 (584 ratings)
Price: $$
About this Tent:
The Coleman Cabin Camping Tent with Screen Room is a beautifully designed pleasant tunnel type tent for summer camping, with windows on all sides. This is a tent from the new series they launched recently, so there are tents for 4 and 6 people, and each of those sizes has two variants, without and with the waterproof porch. The tent with the porch offers more of the rain protected area, which is great to have.
The tent has huge mesh areas everywhere, so ventilation should never be an issue. The inner room is as you would expect, fully protected from the elements and from insects. The porch is about 1/3 of the protected space. But even the tent without the porch still has the awning and windbreakers on the sides, so the screen room is partly protected.
The Coleman Cabin Camping Tent is best suited for warm weather camping. It packs fairly small (26 x 12″ or 66 x 30 cm) and is easy to transport. The poles are fiberglass, which helps make it lighter.
All in all, this is a great tent. The price is on the high side but it is worth the investment.
Napier Sportz SUV Tent with Screened Porch Review
REI Rating: 4.5 (2 ratings)
Amazon Rating: 4.4 (429 ratings)
Price: $$$
About this Tent:
The Napier Outdoors Sprots SUV Tent is designed to fit directly into the back of an SUV, to extend the area of tent into your car. You can then use the back of your SUV as a great storage area or even an extra bed (great place to put the kids to sleep!).
The tent itself is 10′ x 10′ and 7.25′ tall. The screened room is and additional 6′ x 7′. The awning is optional and ads an additional 6′ x 6′. It has two doors, one of which is the screened porch. Plus there is the port to access your vehicle. It is rated for 5-6 adults and if you use it with your SUV as extra storage space, it could actually sleep that many.
You don’t have to connect this tent to an SUV, it works great on it’s own. You don’t find many SUV tents that have a screened porch. If you’d like to utilize the space in your vehicle in such a way, this the probably the best tent with screened porch.
Coleman WeatherMaster 6 Person Tent Review
Amazon Rating: 4..5 (3570 ratings)
Price: $$
About this Tent:
This Coleman WeatherMaster 6 person tent has plenty of space and comfort. Best of all, the WeatherMaster tent is available at an affordable price.
Coleman WeatherMaster 6 tent is the first model that Coleman released under the WeatherMaster Series. It features three rooms (two regular rooms and a screen room) with a floor dimension of 11′ x 9′. The room divider creates a separate sleeping area and offers some privacy in the tent. It’s a fantastic family tent with enough room for two queen size air mattresses.
The Coleman WeatherMaster 6 person model features leak-free seams that are fully taped, a rainfly that covers the doors and windows, as well as Velcro frame attachments for tight closing. The tent relies on Coleman’s “WeatherTec” system to keep your tent dry in wet weather. With patented welded floors and inverted seams, the tent provides great protection from wind and rain. In fact, Coleman tests their tents in factory simulated winds of up to 35mph. Despite it’s sturdy design and wetherproofing, this tent is still a 3-season tent and not designed for winter camping.
The WeatherMaster six person tent offers plenty of ventilation thanks to the screened porch and mesh windows. The 11-millimeter fiberglass tent poles have been redesigned and the triangle attachment for the guy-lines gives the WeatherMaster tent a stronger, more wind-responsive frame.
Coleman offers a 1-year limited warranty against defects to deal with any issues concerning the materials or workmanship of the tent. Coleman claims the setup time for the entire tent is 20 minutes, but the process may take you a bit longer at first. The doors have a hinged design, which makes it easy to enter and exit the tent without wearing out a zipper as in traditional tents. The packed size is 41″ x 10″ x. 10″ so it is quite large to transport.
In summary, the Coleman Weathermaster is a great tent due to its adequate size and sturdiness. The only downsides are the large packed size. It is not the cheapest tent on this list but well worth the price.
NTK INDY GT 6 Person Screen Tent with Flexible Floor Review
Amazon Rating: 4.2 (179 ratings)
Price: $$
About this Tent:
NKT has been making tents since 1975, and have a reputation for innovation, safety and comfort. The tent is a reliable, high-quality tent with a great design. The interior door has a full zipper to keep insects like bugs and mosquitos out of the tent. Despite having huge dimensions of 12Ft by 7Ft, NTK INDY GT weighs only 11 lbs.
The NTK Indy GT XL 5/6 man tent is an extended dome shape for 3-season camping with a full-coverage fly, 2 doors, awning configuration, huge porch, great ventilation, and excellent price. This is an Amazon’s Choice product, which is a competitive badge to get.
The declared capacity of up to 6 people but, as with all tents, is actually suitable for fewer. The inner area is only 62 ft² (5.8 m²), which is best for for 3-4 people. The porch area under the extendable canopy is large, but this area is not protected from crawling insects.
The NTK tent has a very good waterproof rating of 2500 mm, but with so much mesh, this is not a tent for a cold environment. The packed size is roughly 26 x 9 x 8 inches (66 x 23 x 20 cm). The fly is a 190T polyester laminated with the polyurethane.
NTK Indy GT XL 6 Person Tent is a budget tent that offers full protection from elements. It is at the same level as some of its competitors that are far more expensive. This is a great find for the price and is recommended if you’re shopping on a budget.
NEMO Wagontop 6 Person Tent Review
REI Rating: 4.3 (16 ratings)
Amazon Rating: 4.8 (10 ratings)
Price: $$$$
About this Tent:
The NEMO Wagontop 6 person is a freestanding car-camping tent. The word `Wagontop’ in the name refers to its unusual shape which looks like an old wagon. This is a very tall tent, with 80″ (2 meters) peak interior height and fairly heavy at over 27 pounds (12.5 kg).
The tent is attached to the poles through sleeves and clips. It provides a lot of floor area, but also volume due to the tall ceiling. The main room has two large mesh windows with storm flaps that can be rolled down. The front vestibule is large, with 27 square feet (2.5 m²) of covered space.
The design of the flaps on windows and the vestibule is such that it won’t hold up well in strong winds and rain.
CORE 9 Person Instant Cabin Tent Review
Amazon Rating: 4.7 (4785 ratings)
Price: $$
About this Tent:
The Core 9 is a freestanding tent that is self-supporting and staking it to the ground is only necessary in windy weather. The frame is pre-assembled and the poles are permanently attached to the inner tent, so the setup can take as little as 60 seconds. The main poles are also telescopic, so when you unfold the tent, simply extend the poles until you hear a click. Also, taking the Core 9 tent down is just as easy as setting it up.
The Core 9 has an incredibly livable space with plenty of windows and mesh ceiling. The packed size is 48 x 11 x 10.5 inches (122 x 28 x 27 cm), so it is a little bulky (but what do you expect for a 9-person tent?). It also weighs about 35 pounds (16 kg). Once set up, this huge tent is 78 inches (~2 meters) tall and can accommodate any sort of beds. There are several mesh pockets on the walls.
Best of all, the price is more than reasonable for such a huge screened porch tent. Coleman also makes a similar tent, the CORE Lighted 9 Person Instant Cabin Tent.
Wenzel 8 Person Klondike Tent Review
Amazon Rating: 4.4 (471 ratings)
Price: $$
About this Tent:
The Klondike is a great summer tent with plenty of mesh windows and large screened room in the front. It is made of waterproof polyester fabric and the frame is fiberglass and steel.
Despite being rather large, the tent can be setup in 15-20 minutes and fairly easy to take down. It has a center height of 6.5′ making it easy to stand when inside the tent. Polyurethane coated polyester fabric is one of the best waterproof fabrics available at a budget price.
The living area and awning area can be closed up to keep out rainwater. The walls are quite vertical, making the inside like a cabin.
If you have a large family or a group of friends, this tent can fit in 8 people easily. The camping screened porch is so spacious that you can store your camping table inside of it to keep the insects off of your food.
One downside is that this tent is not great in strong wind due to its shape. It is also quite heavy to carry around. And while it is rather large, it won’t fit 8 adults as advertised (do tents ever fit the number of people they claim to?).
Gazelle T4 Plus Hub Tent with Screen Room Review
Amazon Rating: 4.7 (147 ratings)
Price: $$$$
About this Tent:
Gazelle 26800 T4-Plus Pop-Up Portable Camping Hub Tent is a unique, 2-room structure with a pre-attached frame and an instant setup. It is very tall and has a removable floor. This is not a freestanding tent; it will collapse unless you stake it down properly.
The tent is for a maximum of four or five people, or it is ideal for couples who want lots of space. The floor is removable in both rooms using velcro tabs running around the perimeter, plus hooks in the corners. The declared capacity is up to 8 people and the area is 110 ft² (10.2 m²).
This is a 3-season tent, and best for use during summer, late spring, and early fall. It is not suitable for winter camping because too much of the tent is mesh. It is a heavy tent, weighing in at 47 lbs (21.3 kg).
The removable rain fly and the wall material are both 210D Oxford Weave shell, which is quite durable. Its waterproof rating is 2000 mm which is very respectable for moderate to heavy rain. The materials feature a UV50+ rating, and you have YKK zippers which are the best on the market.
The Gazelle T4 Plus Hub Tent with Screen Room is a quality tent with a great two-room design. The main downside is its weight and some people have trouble packing it back into its carry bag.
CORE 10 Person Instant Cabin Tent With Screen Room Review
Amazon Rating: 4.4 (187 Ratings)
Price: $$$
About this Tent:
The CORE 10 Person Instant Cabin Tent With Screen Room is not so different from the CORE 9 also reviewed here, but with a few updates and a larger size. It is a nicely built family camping tent for summer camping. This is a very tall tent with many large windows and with a very easy setup. The peak height is 84 inches (213 cm) which is taller than most tents. The setup time can be as little as 2 minutes if you are familiar with the tent.
The tent claims to be for 10 people but, as with most tents, that number is probably way too man. This tent is probably comfortable with a maximum of 5 people, so it should be plenty of space for a good-sized family.
The tent is quite heavy, weighing in at 40 pounds (~18 kg), mostly due to the steel poles. A great feature is the polyethylene waterproof floor. All of the doors and windows are double layer type with mesh and panels. The tent provides excellent ventilation.
The tent has plenty of storage elements. There are storage pockets on the two sides of the entrance doors as well as a series of rings on the ceiling to attach lanterns or to pass a cord.
Coleman 8-Person Carlsbad Dark Room Tent with Screen Room Review
Coleman Rating: 3.9 (19 Ratings)
Price: $$
About this Tent:
The Coleman Carlsbad is a solid tent with tons of features and protection from the elements. Coleman’s WeatherTec system gives you inverted seams and a welded floor, for superior water protection. The screened porch gives you the benefits of a porch without the bugs. Polyguard fabric gives superior durability, making this tent one that’ll last for years. The Carlsbad series of tents is virtually the same as the Coleman Evanston tents, and so there is no need for a separate review of the Evanston series.
The Carlsbad Fast Pitch 6 is designed for mellower climates. It is made with only a partial fly, which offers more protection from the rain than it looks like it should but might not be trusted when there is strong wind as well. The side of the tent is equipped with a portal so that you can easily slide in a power cord without having to worry about soaking that entire side of your tent if it rains.
It has a ton of ventilation, making it a good option for camping in hot weather. The tent’s poles are made out of fiberglass, making it lighter but less durable over time.
Perhaps the best feature of the Carlsbad is it light blocking capabilities. The Carlsbad with Screen Room blocks 98 percent of sunlight, allowing you to sleep past sunrise. This is a rare feature for tents so if darkness inside and screened porch sound outside sound like excellent features to you, this may be the best tent with screened porch for you.
Outbound 8-Person Dome Tent with Screen Porch Review
Amazon Rating: 4.2 (530 ratings)
Price: $
About this Tent:
The Outbound 8-Person Tent with Screen Porch is a summer camping, non-freestanding, tunnel-type structure with fiberglass poles. It is very affordable and easy to use. The tent is not freestanding, so you have to stake it down to make it stand up properly.
The design is very simple, with a single-room, one door with window on it, plus one separate window. There is a front screened porch area that is created by the fly. This area is only partly protected from the rain, but fully protected protection from insects.
As with just about all tents, the number of people that will comfortably fit is not the number they claim, and this tent is best for 4-5 people maximum. The waterproof rating is quite low so you might consider some extra waterproof if it’s going to rain heavily. The packed size 26 x 10 x 9.5 inches, which is smaller than most other tents of it’s size.
The Outbound 8-Person Tent with Screen Porch is a budget-friendly, 8-person tent. The fly and the tent’s body are built from a durable polyester 185T 68D with a 600 mm waterproof rating, which is not a great waterproof rating. The mesh sections are also polyester 68D. The floor is bathtub style polyethylene.
This is a budget tent and for the price, it’s not so bad. But be aware that it is clearly lower quality than some of the more expensive tents on this list.
Pacific Pass 6 Person Family Dome Tent with Screen Room Review
Amazon Rating: 3.8 (461 ratings)
Price: $
About this Tent:
The Pacific Pass 6 Person Family Dome Tent with Screen Room is well-ventilated, lightweight, nicely packable, and affordable. It is suitable for 3-seasons, at most. Because of the screen room, the tent is not freestanding and must be staked to be functional. The tent is has a partial coverage fly, allowing for the side windows to provide adequate ventilation even when the rain fly is on. The poles are fiberglass which isn’t ideal as they won’t last as long as stronger materials. But they do make the tent lighter. The fabric is a 190T polyester 63D and it has a waterproof rating of 1200 mm.
The Pacific Pass 6 Person Family Dome Tent is a 3-season tent at most. It is best suited for summer, late spring, and early autumn. It is well ventilated, but with so much mesh it is not good for winter camping. Also, it’s not good for very strong winds due to the design and partial fly. If you’re looking for mostly a summer camping tent in mild weather, this is a descent tent for the price but be aware that it is a budget tent.
Alpha Camp 6-Person Screen Room Cabin Tent Review
Amazon Rating: 3.9 (38 Ratings)
Price: $
About this Tent:
The Alpha Camp tent is well-built, offers UV protection, and a durable design that allows you to camp out in total comfort. It sleeps up to six campers (but a maximum of 3-4 is recommended) and comes with its very own screened-in porch. It is a three-season tentl, which makes it a poor choice to use during the winter months.
This is among the best tent with screened porch for families on a budget. One the best things about the tent is the quick setup – with a little practice, you to set it up in just a minute. It also features great ventilation thanks to the mesh ceiling, large mesh panel windows and large D-style door.
The tent comes with tough steel poles that help to increase durability and stability in high-wind conditions. The attached screen porch measures in at 10 x 6 feet, giving you ample space for a few people to relax with camping chairs.
This model is covered by a one-year manufacturer warranty. It can do well in summer, spring, and fall weather conditions, but it can’t handle heavy rain or snowfall.
This is a budget tent and a descent buy for the price. The tent’s screened-in porch is a huge selling point, especially considering it provides some nice extra space for storage.
Chinook Twin Peaks Guide 6-Person Plus Fiberglass Pole Tent Review
Amazon Rating: 3.3 (26 Ratings)
Price: $$$
About this Tent:
The Chinook Twin Peaks Guide 6-Person Plus Fiberglass Pole Tent is a unique double dome freestanding structure with two rooms and a full cover fly. This tent is a part of a series which also includes one 4-person tent and has been on the market many years.
The tent claims to hold 6 or more people but if you use the front room as a living room, it can fit no more than 4 people. The total inner area is 128 ft² (11.9 m²).
Its weighs 28.5 lbs (~13 kg) which is fairly light because of fiberglass used for the poles. The packed size is very reasonable at 25 x 11 x 11 inches (62 x 28 x 28 cm). It is very tall at a height of 81 inches (206 cm).
Each of the two rooms is a dome created by two X-shaped poles that have 11 sections. You also have a ridge pole with 5 sections which supports the vestibules creating small awnings above the entry doors. The version presented here has fiberglass poles, but it is also available with aluminum poles. The fly is a polyester material with a minimum 2000 mm PU waterproof coating. This is higher than many of the tents on this list. The front dome part of the fly can unzip to make two large side windows.
The Chinook Twin Peaks Guide 6-Person Plus Fiberglass Pole Tent is nicely built, reliable, and offers a higher waterproof rating that most other tents. Also, the double dome shape is quite unique but works.
Timber Ridge 8-Man Log Cabin Tent Review
Amazon Rating: 4.5 (56 ratings)
Price: $$$
About this Tent:
The Timber Ridge 8-Man Log Cabin Tent is a very tall freestanding framed structure for summer camping. Obviously, the most noticeable feature of this tent is the fact that it looks like a log cabin.
This is a very tall tent with a peak height of 86 inches (218 cm). It is a simple design with two rooms: the inner area and the screened porch. The declared capacity is 8 people, but based on the dimensions, you’re better off with half that many people. The packed size 34 x 12 x 12 inches.
The frame is strong but it’s definitely not recommended for very strong winds due to it’s height. Also, the waterproof rating for the fly is very low, so don’t trust it in heavy rain. Nevertheless, the Timber Ridge 8-Man Log Cabin Tent has received a very high rating by Amazon customers.
The tent is quite ok for camping in calm weather and most customers are satisfied with their purchase. It is a bit pricey and there are more affordable options on the market, but if you like the look of it this might be the best tent with screened porch for you.
Large Group Tents with Screened Porches
Ozark Trail 12 Person Instant Cabin Tent with Integrated LED Lights Review
Amazon Rating: 4.7 (32 ratings)
Price: $$
About this Tent:
The Ozark Trail 18′ x 10′ Instant Cabin Tent doesn’t exactly have a screened porch as you’d imagine, but the center room of this 3-room tent becomes a screened porch. With the room dividers up and rain fly off, the center room is just as much of a screened porch as any other tent.
This tent is designed to accommodate 12 adults at the same time. It can fit three queen air beds or 12 campers in sleeping bags on the floor, although it’s most comfortable with 6-8 at most. It features a panoramic view with the extra-large windows.
This Ozark Trail Instant Tent also has 2 media pockets, 2 storage pockets and electrical cord access. The rainfly has factory-sealed seams so it should hold up in most rainy conditions, although I’d hesitate to trust it in very heavy rain conditions.
This tent features a height of 80″ that leaves enough space for even the tallest to walk around. Two removable room dividers allow you to divide the immense 20′ X 10’floor into 3 separate rooms. It also comes with a 6 month warranty.
Ozark Trail is a budget brand and this tent is well priced. The quality is not top-notch but very good for the price.
Coleman Skylodge 12 Person Tent with Screen Room Review
Reviews
Price: $
About this Tent:
The Coleman Skylodge 12 Person Tent with Screen Room is a 2-room cabin-style tent with windows on all sides. The tent is very tall, with a peak height of 7.4 ft (225 cm). There is a large, inverted-T-shaped zippered front door and a large inner door between the two rooms. The tent must be staked to be stand properly, especially the front screen room.
Coleman Skylodge 12 Person Tent with Screen Room has a capacity for 12 people, but most comfortable for 6-8. The front room is 10 x 5 ft (305 x 152 cm) and the rear room is 14 x 10 ft (427 x 305 cm) The total area is 190 ft² (17.6 m²) so the tent is huge. It comes with a 1-year limited warranty.
Ozark Trail 14 Person Spring Lodge Cabin Camping Tent Review
Amazon Rating: 3.7 (59 ratings)
Price: $$$
About this Tent:
Ozark Trail 14 Person Spring Lodge Cabin Camping Tent is a huge summer camping cabin with all steel frame, a screen room, 2 storage closets, and 6 huge mesh windows on all the sides. This is a cabin-style tent, with steep and straight walls.
it has two rooms – the back room, which is 13.5 x 8 ft size, and the front room, which is a screen room. The floor is fully sealed in both rooms so even the screened room offers protection from the wet ground. This is a great feature not found on most tents with screened rooms.
There are two entry points, both of which are very large. The storage closets, which you can see on each side of the back room, come with mesh shelves. The tent has 5 huge external windows, plus two inner windows between the two rooms.
It can accommodate 3 queen size beds or 14 campers sleeping in sleeping bags, but it’s most comfortable with 8-10 max. Keep in mind that this includes the front room as well. The inner floor size is 14 x 13.5 ft (427 x 411 cm). The tent is quite heavy, weighing 45 lbs (20.4 kg), but that’s to be expected for its size and steel frame.
Ozark Trail 14 Person Spring Lodge Spring Lodge Cabin Camping Tent has a self-supporting, steel frame which attaches to the tent with clips and hooks.
There is no information about the waterproof rating.
The Ozark Trail 14 Person Spring Lodge Cabin Camping Tent is really nicely built and this is a great tent for occasional family camping in calm weather. It is surprisingly easy to set up given that it is such a spacious tent, but it is quite heavy. The price is very good for a tent with so many great features.
Tahoe Gear Ozark 16 Person 3 Season Family Cabin Tent Review
Amazon Rating: 4.5 (313 ratings)
Price: $$$
About this Tent:
The Tahoe Gear Ozark 3-Season 16 Person Large Family Cabin Tent is a very tall 3-room tent with 2 doors, 9 windows, great ventilation, and a very good price tag. The peak height is over 8 feet (220 cm), making it a very tall tent.
There are 10 steel leg poles plus 5 fiberglass roof poles, all of which are shock-corded. The tent body and the fly are both a durable polyester with a 1200 mm waterproof rating. There is a power slip, allowing you to run a cable into the tent. But there are no pouches or pockets for devices, and it is also doesn’t have lantern hooks. It comes with vents on the fly and above the floor, and with lots of mesh around and on the ceiling.
Tahoe Gear Ozark 3-Season 16 Person Large Family Cabin Tent is a very large tent for warm-weather camping. It is extremely tall and as such, it is not a great option for very windy situations, but might be suitable for you if you prefer a tall tent.
Ozark Trail Hazel Creek 20-Person Star Tent with Screen Room Review
Walmart Rating: 4.5 (30 ratings)
Price: $$$
About this Tent:
Ozark Trail Hazel Creek 20-Person Star Tent with Screen Room is one of the most remarkable tents on the market with its 5 rooms, 13 windows, 5 doors, and a lot more. This is a tent, basically the size of a small house. It measures 23 x 24.5 ft (701 x 747 cm) It is also very tall, with a stand-up height of 84 inches (213 cm) in the central room.
The screen room alone is 61 ft² (5.7 m²). Each of the sleeping rooms has three windows (one on the door plus two on the sides), and in total there are 13 windows. They are all dual-layer with mesh and zippered panels from inside, so you have full protection from the rain as well as insects.
Although the tent is huge, it can be set it up in half an hour or so if you’re familiar with it. There are also 34 steel stakes to secure the tent properly. The walls and the fly are a poly taffeta 185T with a 1200 mm waterproof rating, which is ok but not great. There are multiple storage pockets and a gear loft in the central room.
The packed size is 32 x 16 x 12 inches (81 x 39 x 29 cm), which is not bad for such a huge tent. It weighs 60 lb (27.3 kg) so it is not light, due to its size and the fact that it has 22 poles.
The Ozark Trail Hazel Creek 20-Person Star Tent with Screen Room has a declared capacity of 20 people. The tent is huge but the declared capacity should be downgraded drastically (as with most tents). This is a tent for very quiet weather conditions without much rain and wind.
Best Screen Rooms for Camping
Instead of buying a whole new tent to get a screened porch, have you considered just buying a screen room? These structures can be placed anywhere and offer protection from bugs and the sun.
Coleman Back Home Instant Screen House Review
Amazon Rating: 4.6 (5867 ratings)
Price: $
About this Screen Room:
This Coleman Back Home Instant Screen House 12 x 10 is a fully freestanding structure with a 3-minute setup, a waterproof roof, 2 doors, and with a great price tag.
The screen house includes three main elements – the frame, the roof, and the screen around. The fabric elements are separately removable and you can use this structure as a gazebo with the frame and roof only. With the net in place, there are two access points on opposite sides, each with vertical zippers.
Coleman Screened Canopy Tent with Instant Setup weighs 45.2 lb (20.5 kg) but it comes with a wheeled carry bag for relatively easy transport. It offers rain protection from above but there is not a fly to cover the the screened sides. This structure can easily withstand winds in spite of its boxy shape and considerable height.
All-in-all, the Coleman Screened Canopy Tent is a good buy if you’d like to add a screened area to your camping experience without having to buy a new tent with screened porch. The price is more than fair for the quality of this screen room.

The Eureka Northern Breeze Aluminum Frame Screen House is a large and very tall double-wall structure with quality poles, awning configuration, and two doors. The panels can be rolled down to protect from rain or rolled up to make a screen house.
This is an incredibly tall structure with the 8’5″ (256 cm) interior peak height. The walls are very steep, so this is a structure with lots of area and volume. With the awning out, this large space is extended outside so you have a covered area to sit in the shade. The packed size is 42 x 12.5 inches (107 x 32 cm) so it is quite bulky to transport, as is the case with most pop-up shelters.
The Eureka Northern Breeze aluminum frame screen house is a floorless construction, as it is meant to be a screenhouse rather than a tent. But it does provide full protection from the rain, with a waterproof rating of 1000 mm. The aluminum poles are a great feature here and are shock-corded for easy setup. The frame is external-type and the connection to the tent is with clips.
Gazelle Tents 21500 G6 Pop-Up Gazebo/Screen Tent Review
Amazon Rating: 4.6 (885 ratings)
Price: $$
About this Screen Room:
The Gazelle Tents Pop-Up 6-Sided Hub Gazebo/Screen Tent 8 Person is an instant-setup freestanding construction, easy to use, and unique. It could use a shorter name though. It is quite tall, with a peak height of 86 inches (218 cm). The fabric is a no-see-um mesh but the roof is a durable 210D Oxford Weave and the same material is also used for the shell and sleeves.
The total area is 92 ft² (8.5 m²) and it is hexagonal which makes it easier to fit many types of camping tables. This is enough space for up to 8 people with chairs inside.
It weighs 34 lb (15.4 kg) which is not too bad but it is heavy and very long when packed. The setup, however, is quite simple and quick.
The price for this screened room is great considering the large area, and the no-see-um mesh is a plus (if you’ve ever camped with a lot of no-see-ums, this mesh is a necessity).
Caddis Rapid Screenhouse Shelter Review
REI Rating: 3.9 (17 reviews)
Price: $$
About this Screen Room:
The Caddis Rapid Screenhouse Shelter is a freestanding and easy-to-use screen shelter with a 1 minute setup time and 2 zippered doors. The screen house is supported by 4 telescopic leg poles that are permanently attached to 4 roof poles that converge to the top hub element. The structure is very similar to the Coleman 10×10 Instant Screen House. It is very easy to set up, but bear in mind that it is quite long when packed and it is not very light. The area is 100 ft² (9.3 m²) and this is large enough to accommodate 4 people with camping chairs and a camping table.
NEMO Victory Screenhouse Review
REI Rating: 4.7 (21 ratings)
Price: $$$
About this Tent:
This NEMO Victory Screenhouse is a unique design with solid construction, supported by 4 poles. The structure is self-supporting due to tension in the fabric and mesh after you add the poles in all the sleeves and grommets. The walls are almost completely vertical so it is a cabin-style structure with lots of headroom. There are two doors that span the height of the screen house with vertical zippers, and with a step pad which is very convenient. The roof is a durable 75D polyester with a 1500 mm waterproof rating.
NEMO Victory Screenhouse provides a lot of extra space that is partly protected from elements and fully protected from flying insects. You can use it as your dining space in the camp or a cooking or sitting space. The screen house provides surprisingly good protection from the rain.
They describe it as a 3-season shelter. The packed size 27 x 10 x 10 inches (69 x 25 x 25 cm) and it weighs a mere 16 pounds. This is a lot lighter than most of the other screen houses.
All NEMO products carry a lifetime warranty against defects in workmanship and materials. This is a versatile and reliable screen house, it has all you need in an item of this type. This is the highest quality screen house on this list.
